Sessions Edit

1. The Modern Age / Hard To Explain / Barely Legal / Someday

First broadcast 27 June 2001. Repeated 22 August 2001.

The Strokes' one and only session was recorded on 08 June 2001 and broadcast later that month on 27 June 2001. Produced by Miti Adhikari and engineered by George Thomas, it was recorded at Maida Vale 4.

CommentEdit

  • Peel is clearly quite keen on the band and hopes that this will be the first of many sessions.
  • Peel's notes lead him to believe that the track 'Someday' may in fact be titled 'Somerday'. (both comments made during the session's initial transmission, 27 June 2001).
  • When Peel first played the group's song 'Barely Legal', he commented that this reminded him strongly of the work of another artist. Despite listeners' suggestions over the course of several weeks (eg 'Flowers In The Rain' by The Move), it seems that he never identified the track he was searching for.

LineupEdit

  • Nick Valensi (Guitar)
  • Nikolai Fraiture (Bass)
  • Julian Casablancas (Vocals)
  • Albert Hammond Jr (Guitar)
  • Fabrizio Moretti (Drums)
