Links to Peel[]

In the days before punk, Supercharge were a Liverpool band who had issued an album on a local label and built up a reputation as a live act. They soon signed with Virgin but were more successful in Australia and Europe than in the UK. They managed to keep going until the late 1980s and reformed in the 2000s.

The band did three sessions in three years for Peel, who was always interested in music from Liverpool and gave airtime to many artists on Virgin in the label's early years. After playing their first session track in 1975, before their first Virgin release, the DJ said that the band were "recommended".

Unlike Deaf School, the other Liverpool session band of the era, Supercharge had few links with subsequent generations of musicians from the city who were played by Peel.
