Sloy

Sloy was a French alternative rock band consisting of:

  • Armand Gonzalez (Guitar, Vocals)
  • Virginie Peitavi (Bass, Sampling)
  • Cyril Bilbeaud (Drums)

The band formed in 1991 in Béziers and then they moved to Rennes.

Their music was influenced by new wave bands like Talking Heads or Devo and noise rock groups like Jesus Lizard or Shellac. Steve Albini of Shellac produced their first two albums.

In 1996, the band launched their own label Tubes Records.

After the band split in 2000, Armand and Virginie would form the short-live project Sabo and then 69, while drummer Cyril would join Versari and be part of the avant garde rock group Zone Libre.

Peel fist played the band's material in February 1995 via their debut single, Fuse. Impressed by that, he got the band to do a session for his show in March 1995. After 1995, he didn't play any further material from the group.
