Comments
  • First of series of four programmes on Radio One, but the only one narrated by Peel.
  • (Richard): A R1 documentary written and narrated by the man himself back in 1996 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the punk revolution. I think it is an important artifact since Peel always understood what Punk was really about - namely the breaking down of the barriers for countless outsider artists, rather than the three chords, gobbing and safety pins. It should be prescribed listening to anyone who ventures the opinion that Green Day are Punk.
  • Guests include Siouxsie Sioux, Billy Bragg, Pete Shelley, Annie Nightingale, Mark Perry, Alan McGee, Mark Stanley (V2), Arthur (Lurkers), Vic Goddard (Subway Sect), Chrissie Hynde, Winston Blake (Anti-Nowhere League), Paul Morley (NME), Don Letts, Poly Styrene (X-Ray Spex), Geoff Travis (Rough Trade).
