Elevate

Elevate were a 90's British indie math rock band consisting of Graham Miles, James Elkington, Paul Collyer and Tim Ward. The group released two albums and several singles between 1993 and 1997 before splitting up. James and Graham later became part of the Sophia collective and worked with Robin Proper-Sheppard (ex-The God Machine) in that group releasing music. In 2000 the trio later formed a side project called May Queens with Dan Mulligan of Oil Seed Rape and released one album before going their own ways.

Links to Peel[]

Peel was enthusiastic about the band's music and constantly played their material between 1993 and 1997, as well as two sessions for his programmes. James Elkington and Graham Miles project after the split of Elevate, called Sophia, did not gain any interest from Peel and he never played any of their material. However, the May Queens, a side project of Sophia did gain some airplay on Peel's shows in 2000.
