Icarus

Icarus was a British roots reggae band consisting of Ashley Charles, Cyril Charles, Harold Cyrus, James Nagan, Leon Modeste and Leroy Cyrus. Seva Novgorodsev, a radio presenter for the BBC Russian Service, also contributed saxophone playing to their track, 'State Of Mind', whilst working briefly as a music producer. The group released a couple of singles between 1980 and 1981, as well as a studio album, State Of Mind.

Links to Peel[]

Despite releasing very little material over their existence, Peel played a considerable amount of their records in the early 80's on his radio programmes, including a session they recorded for his programme in 1980. He even revisited them on his shows in 1994 as well as on FSK in 2000. After Peel's death in 2004, it was later found out that he had their only album in his Record Collection: I.
