Humble Pie - I Walk on Gilded Splinters Live 1969

I Walk On Gilded Splinters

Humble Pie was a rock band from England, finding success both in the UK and the US. They are remembered for songs such as "Black Coffee" "30 Days in the Hole", "I Don't Need No Doctor", and "Natural Born Bugie". The original band lineup featured Steve Marriott from Small Faces, vocalist and guitarist Peter Frampton from The Herd, Greg Ridley former bassist from Spooky Tooth and seventeen-year-old drummer Jerry Shirley (read more at Wikipedia)

Humble Pie were one of the so-called "supergroups", made up of well-known members of popular bands, which became a trend in 1969. (Other supergroups included Blind Faith and Crosby, Stills and Nash, who later became Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.) Humble Pie lasted longer than the other supergroups and were particularly successful in the USA - which may explain why, despite picking up a fair amount of airplay on Peel's shows in the early '70s, the only session they did for Top Gear was soon after their formation in 1969.
