Sophie And Peter Johnston were a British brother and sister synthpop duo originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, who caught the attention of John Peel in 1983, when they sent a demo to him, which Peel liked and invited them to do two sessions for his show. By the end of 1983, listeners voted their session track 'Television Satellite' at number 37 in the 1983 Festive Fifty, at the time the band did not have a record deal. In the mid-80's, the group were signed to a record label and composed the theme tune to TX45, a music television series that was an offshoot of The Tube. By the end of the 80's, the duo split and in 2007 they reformed and released the 'Sophie & Peter Johnston' (not to be confused with their debut album, Sophie And Peter Johnston album) album, which was only available from their website (has since then closed down).
