Delaney & Bonnie were the American musical duo of singer/songwriters Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett (husband & wife who met in 1967 and married within 5 days). In 1969 and 1970, they fronted a rock/soul ensemble, Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, whose members at different times included Duane Allman & Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers Band, George Harrison, Leon Russell, Bobby Whitlock, Dave Mason, Rita Coolidge, King Curtis, and Eric Clapton. The group was formed in 1967 and disbanded in 1972.

Peel played tracks from Delaney & Bonnie in the late 60's and early 70's, when the group were active. They were pioneers of the southern soul-rock style which he liked and recorded their first album for Elektra Records. Due to their connection with the likes of Eric Clapton and George Harrison, the duo became fashionable for a time in the early 1970s, But after their band split up, they seldom appeared in Peel's playlists.
