  • The broadcast date is taken from Ken Garner's The Peel Sessions (pg 213). The one-hour programme was devoted to a concert by Family, recorded at The Playhouse Theatre on 16th December. The band's set has been released officially on Live (Mystic Records MYSCD176). However, all John Peel's links between tracks were removed.
  • A German bootleg of tonight is entitled Family: Music In A Playhouse, which, though a nice play on words as regards Family's Music In A Doll's House debut album, is erroneous, as the concert was recorded at The BBC Paris. It was Peel's last official Concert, and we, The John Peel Boot Boys sang our song to him, presented him with a huge Christmas Card, and a sculpted ball made out of all the BBC conical cups taken from the loo during the past ten months or so. Sadly, this does not appear on the bootleg.
  • This recording is from a repeat broadcast on 19 August 1977 which includes John's intros.
