  • Peel opens the show mentioning the gig at Manchester University "several months ago" which he describes as "the most catastrophic gig of my entire career" and "a night of horror without parallel". This would have been the gig of just a few weeks ago, however, on 1980-02-02 since he also mentions that the night was relieved only by music by Elti Fits and "a dazzling set" by Diagram Brothers, who are in session tonight.[2] He later mentions the gig again after their first track, saying it was "a few weeks ago".
  • 80s chart staples in embryo in the form of Q Tips (who included Paul Young on vocals) and Vice Versa (who evolved into ABC).
