This show was compered by either Alan Black or Bob Harris while John Peel was on holiday, and is the third of four consecutive sessions that I attended which were recorded while Peel was away. I'm assuming these four consecutive sessions constitute the four consecutive concerts that were transmitted.
Author Nick Hornby recently revealed that this Rory Gallagher gig was the first he attended as a 14 year old, though it may have been Rory the following January in 1972 at the Paris, as he'd still have been only 14
Ricotti Albuquerque were a jazz-rock group whose best-known members were bassist Michael de Albuquerque, who later played with ELO, vibraphonist and percussionist Frank Ricotti (b. 1949) and pianist John Taylor (1942-2015), who in subsequent decades earned a reputation as a major figure in European jazz. They only made one album[1] before breaking up.
