  • Looks forward to White Stripes arriving to play at Peel Acres within the month (08 November 2001).
  • JP: “I’ve always loved the sound of steel guitar ever since I heard a record when I was living in Dallas, Texas, by Jerry Byrd called Memories Of Maria. And it was sort of a small hit in Dallas when I lived there, but I’ve never been able to find a copy of it since, to my considerable regret. If you ever see once, snap it up for me." (Peel obviously eventually get hold of a copy, as it was played on the show of 11 September 2003 and was eventually found in John Peel's Record Box.)
  • Recalls borrowing the line “putting fun back into being pretentious” from Yeah Yeah Noh for the ICA Rock Week of October 1984.
  • The new Melys single is played for the second week in a row. It would subsequently top the 2001 Festive Fifty.
