  • Chris Clark is listed among the session artists in the show section of The Peel Sessions, but is missing from the session listings. She was one of the few white singers to record for Motown, so was a typical booking in the early months of Top Gear, when each week included one or more sessions by soul artists. The NME of December 2, 1967, confirms ("Chart Who's Who In Radio 1 Shows"[1]) that she had been booked for this show; an ad from EMI in Record Mirror of 9 December 1967 (p.3)[2] welcomes her (and Gladys Knight and the Pips) to Britain and also mentions a new single by her. The gig listings in Melody Maker of 25 November 1967 show both acts appearing at Blaises club in London that week ("Tamla Motown at Blaises"[3])  Chris Clark had no chart hits in the UK, but one of her best known songs, "I Want To Go Back There Again", later became a Northern Soul favourite..
