  • Peel apologises to listeners about the expensive price of a recent Tyrannosaurus Rex gig - one of a series at the Lyceum in London, advertised "with the appalling name of John Peel's Midnight Court", he says (the organisers used his name without asking him and dropped it after he complained). He says that he and Tyrannosaurus Rex will try to organise a "free thing" to make up for it.
  • Peel restarts the Spooky Tooth record after starting it at 45 instead of 33 rpm - a wrong speed moment, but he quickly notices his mistake. Tells producer Bernie Andrews he "really didn't do it".
  • He plays one of two singles released simultaneosuly by Leviathan, who had previously recorded a Top Gear session as the Mike Stuart Span. JP says it's "beautifully produced by someone called Clive" - his manager Clive Selwood, who signed them to Elektra. He was running the label's London office as well as looking after Peel's career..
  • Creedence Clearwater Revival have been discovered by Jonathan King, says JP, and congratulates him ironically. He points out that Jeff Dexter and a few thousand others who heard JD play their records at the now defunct Middle Earth knew about them long before King did.
  • Peel plays a track from Hapshash and the Coloured Coat’s second album, Western Flier. They were associated with the underground scene, but this LP was produced by Mike Batt, best known for his later, more commercial records, notably those of the Wombles.
  • Audio in Files 5 & 6 is not of great sound quality, but they are just about listenable, apart from a few seconds of heavy interference during the Insect Trust track.
