- File a is almost complete, missing just the first 30 seconds of the first track. File b is around 13 minutes shorter but is a little clearer.
- JP has been to see a couple of bands the previous weekend, including the Heart Throbs at Sea Cadet Hall, Cambridge. The following evening, he attended a Levellers 5 soundcheck at the Square in Harlow, although he didn't have enough money to buy petrol to go back to Harlow for the gig itself. He did see the band do 'Next Big Thing', though.
- Peel talks about the World Cup football and the television commentators (Jimmy Greaves's shirt doesn't find favour). Scotland lost 1-0 against Costa Rica and England drew 1-1 with Ireland.
- The Don Covay track is described by Peel as his favourite single of 1974. It was later selected for the 1974 Peelenium and a copy also turned up in John Peel's Record Box.
