  • Full tracklisting below is courtesy of the John Peel Papers. Many thanks to the uploader to the John Peel Papers at Facebook for sharing the information. [1]
  • Three tracks from the new Pere Ubu LP. Seems likely these were the first three, presumably played in order, although this isn’t clear from the John Peel Papers listing. The following three were played the following night.
  • Both sides played of a Lee Perry-produced single by Peter & Paul Lewis on Black Ark.
  • There's still a healthy 'rock' element to the show at this point, a couple of weeks before the launch of the Friday night Rock Show, with Gary Moore, Status Quo and Ted Nugent being played.
  • Peel makes a couple of jokes about the forthcoming MW frequency change that would put Radio One on 275 or 285 metres, depending on your region. Before playing Peter and Paul Lewis 'Ethiopian Land', he apparently refers to a wallchart before declaring, "I don't think they're going to get us at all."
  • Peel plays the first three tracks from side b of the latest Captain Beefheart LP ('Bat Chain Puller') and promises to play the final three tracks on the album the following evening.
  • There's a sarcastic poke at colleague Noel Edmonds.

Tracklisting

JP: "This next record I heard Kid Jerkin playing on his programme today from the debating chamber of Southampton University with Noel Edmonds, incidentally. What a cutie pie that Noel is eh? And modest?! Humble is the word that I would use."
JP: "This was one of Marc Bolan's favourite records."
