Comments
  • There's still a healthy 'rock' element to the show at this point, a couple of weeks before the launch of the Friday night Rock Show, with Gary Moore, Status Quo and Ted Nugent being played.
  • Peel makes a couple of jokes about the forthcoming MW frequency change that would put Radio One on 275 or 285 metres, depending on your region. Before playing Peter and Paul Lewis 'Ethiopian Land', he apparently refers to a wallchart before declaring, "I don't think they're going to get us at all."
  • Peel plays the first three tracks from side b of the latest Captain Beefheart LP ('Bat Chain Puller') and promises to play the final three tracks on the album the following evening.
  • Peel says of Jimmy McCracklin's 'The Walk', "this was one of Marc Bolan's favourite records".

[edit] Sessions

  • The Mekons: repeat of their second session, recorded 1978-09-25 and originally broadcast 1978-10-02.
