- Peel is very happy that one of his favourite songs (September Song) has now been sung by one of this favourite singers (Robert Wyatt).
- For a competition to see Cinerama at Maida Vale, JP tells us the prize but forgets to set the question before starting the next record - says this is a first. The second competition is for 10 listeners to win around 200 records each from Peel's Christmas clearout by coming up with 20 words or less on why they listen to the Peel show (to be used on a Sony Prize entry); the winners would eventually be announced on the 17 January 2002 show.
- In reply to a listener enquiry, Peel says he has just over 26,000 vinyl albums – he knows this from his card filing system. Estimates about the same number of CDs, perhaps a few thousand fewer.
- Again no Pig's Big 78, presumably because of ongoing MD recording problems at Peel Acres.
